Columbus Clippers 4, Durham Bulls 3
The Bulls gave up a pair of runs late to lose to the Clippers on Friday night. Leslie Anderson was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Brooks Conrad was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Tim Beckham had a solo home run. Chris Gimenez had a double. Brandon Gomes suffered the loss.
Huntsville Stars 9, Montgomery Biscuits 8
The Biscuits and Stars exchanged a pair of six run innings and two run innings but it was the lone one run inning that would be the difference as the Biscuits fell on Friday. Kyeong Kang was 3 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Derek Dietrich, Mike Sheridan, Brad Coon and Mark Thomas each had a two hit night. Shawn O’Malley had a triple. Shane Dyer threw 5 shut-out innings. Marquis Fleming suffered the loss.
Charlotte Stone Crabs 6, St. Lucie Mets 5
The Stone Crabs put up a four run seventh inning to overcome the Mets for a big Friday night win. Todd Glaesmann was 2 for 4 with a double, home run and 2 RBI’s. Luke Scott was 2 for 4 with a home run and 3 RBI’s. Alejandro Torres was 2 for 3 with a double. Alex Koronis was awarded the win and Matt Neveraz pitched 2 not-hit innings with 5 strikeouts for the save.
Bowling Green Hot Rods 2, Great Lakes Loons 1
The Hot Rods swept the Loons following a 2-1 win in the series finale. Juniel Querecuto and Ryan Brett each had a double. Jake Hager and Tyler Goeddel picked up the RBI’s. Justin Woodall pitched 2 no-hit innings for the win. Austin Hubbard recorded the save.
Connecticut Tigers 5, Hudson Valley Renegades 3
The Renegades had to settle for series win as they were unable to record the sweep after losing the series finale against the Tigers. Jake DePew was 2 for 4 with a double. Thomas Coyle was 2 for 3 with a double. Joey Rickard was 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Matt Spann was charged with the loss.
Johnson City Cardinals 10, Princeton Rays 9
The Princeton Rays surrendered six runs in the final inning of play to lose game one of Friday’s doubleheader. Andrew Toles was 3 for 4 with a home run and 4 RBI’s. William Argo was 3 for 4 with a double. Reid Redman was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and an RBI. Brandon Martin had a two run homer. Ariel Soriano had a double. Jonathan Weaver was the losing pitcher.
Johnson City Cardinals 8, Princeton Rays 4
The P-Rays watched an early lead slip away as they dropped the second game of the doubleheader against the Cardinals. Andrew Toles was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. William Argo was also 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Ismel Antunez recorded a double. Omar Narvaez had two RBI’s. Hugo Duarte was the losing pitcher.
GCL Rays 6, GCL Orioles 1
The GCL Rays won their third straight game by beating the Orioles on Friday afternoon. Bralin Jackson was 2 for 4 with a triple and 2 RBI’s. Isaias Velasquez was 2 for 4 with a double and 2 stolen bases. Armando Araiza and Cesar Perez each had an RBI. Isaac GIl pitched 5 shut-out innings for the win.
DSL Rays 7, DSL Astros 3
The DSL Rays downed the Astros on Friday afternoon. Alexander Simon was a single shy of the cycle while driving home 6 runs. Bill Pujols was 2 for 3 with a double. Roquely Ortiz was the winning pitcher.
